Monday Morning Memo
9/28-10-2
As a reminder, this Tuesday, 9/29 @ 2:00 will be Doug Fisher's professional learning opportunity. I highly encourage you to take part in it. It is absolutely aligned with our school-wide focus.
Substitutes-
- If for any reason you need to be out, you will need to follow the normal process of calling SAMS and requesting a sub.
- Educators should follow normal procedures for reporting an absence (notifying Armando and Cathy the day before if possible and inputting into SAMS.
- Educators must prepare lesson plans for the Visiting Teacher just as you would during onsite instruction
- Options for providing Zoom links:
- Never share your username or password
- Add the substitute to your meeting and assign as a co-host
- Have the substitute email Cathy for the link to your Zoom
I will be going into classrooms this coming week to give you feedback on your instruction. I will be coming in with the lens of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria.
Appointment-based Learning-
I will be having a meeting soon about how we support our most vulnerable students with on-site learning. As we think about our neediest students, please start thinking about your class and who would benefit the most out of that group. Once I get more information, I will have a meeting about it.
Enrollment-
As we move into next week, our enrollment has dipped a little bit. We will be monitoring it very closely. Usually, the district looks at enrollment at the end of the 3rd week. They have moved it to the end of the 5th week. I do not know if they will be changing the overall process of reorganization as well. More information to come as I learn more.
Chronic Absenteeism-
We are on a watch list for our Chronic Absenteeism (ATSI). If a school is above the 10% threshold of their students being chronically absent, the school is considered a site with chronic Absenteeism. We are at 19.6% We will need to be taking measures to increase our attendance online and in-person. More information to come.
ELD-
Just a friendly reminder that Designated ELD needs to be on your schedules. I will be hopping into those lessons next week as well.
DRA-
Eventually, we will learn how to administer the DRA soon. If you wanted to take a look at the resources in advance, please click this link.
STAFF DAILY SYMPTOM CHECK-
We have changed the process when you access our site at any time.
Fill out the ClearPass employee daily symptom questionnaire that can be filled out online before coming to campus. This takes place of the paper check-off list of symptoms that you would fill out when you arrived on site. To Access ClearPass Job Aide click here.
Employees coming on campus must still have their temperature checked and continue to follow the Teacher/Staff Access Guide.
ZOOM NOTICE & SECURITY
I'm sure you have heard of "Zoom-bombing" when someone outside of your classroom jumps into your lesson in an attempt to sabotage your lesson. There are new guidelines for security that are mandatory. If you have not done so, please ensure that you are having your students log in by authentication. Below are the troubleshooting tips rom the Educator Updates.
ZOOM GUIDANCE: UPDATED TROUBLESHOOTING FOR JOINING AUTHENTICATED MEETINGS
These three problem solving procedures will resolve most issues when joining authenticated Zoom meetings from a district Chromebook.
Please try these steps in order. For example, if #1 doesn’t work, try #2. If #2 doesn’t work, try #3.
STEP 1: Sign in through sandiegounified.zoom.us before joining the meeting. Click here for a video tutorial.
STEP 2: Uninstall the Zoom extension. Click here for a video tutorial.
STEP 3: Sign in into the extension with SSO. Click here for a video tutorial.
