Monday Morning Memo
Week of 9/16/19-9/20/19

We had a great turn-out for Back to School Night.  As always, thank you for your dedication and time on this long night.  The parents appreciate your presentations as you start to build relationships with their families.

Instructional Focus-

As developed with ILT and shared with all staff, our strategic plan focuses on three main areas.

  • A safe, collaborative, inclusive environment
  • High quality GVC
  • Teacher Clarity

During the first 20 days of school, I will be asking you how you created a safe inclusive environment.

  • Some of the questions you can expect are as follows:
  • How do you create collaborative partnerships with your students?
  • How do you create deep connections with all students?
  • What is your definition of a deep connection with your students?
  • What is your definition of team building for your students?
  • What specific activities do you plan to go beyond developing superficial relationships?
  • As I continue my instructional visits, please be prepared to not only receive feedback on instruction but your efforts to create a safe inclusive environment.

Annual Notifications-
You will have time to complete your Annual Notifications during your prep week.  The official due Date-Friday, October 4th.

Lates/Tardies
Please ensure that you continue to adjust your attendance as students bring in their late cards to you.  We appreciate your help in this matter.

AEP-Upper Grade Rotation 9/20/19
We will be participating in the Arts and Education Program (AEP) this year.  This is the program where our students will be getting extra visual and performing arts instruction and you will be released for PLC (with no lesson plans!!!). Below are the dates.  All dates are subject to change, but for now, this is what we are starting with.  I will be meeting with VAPA for more specifics.

General Time Schedule for Subs on half-day release
General Time Schedule for Subs on half-day release

Here are some clarifying items to remember.
If you are released for PLC first thing in the morning, you are responsible for taking roll. I recommend that you take roll in line to save time.
Cathy will create name tags for your class for each release for all your students.  We will try to create a name placard late. You will always be released to room 11.

Transitions

  • You will always have your students on the blacktop
  • Cathy will be creating an informative folder about your class.  She will give it to you before your first AEP release.  You are responsible to give it to the AEP teacher every time you release your students to them (It contains emergency information, rosters identifying students with disabilities, caught being good tickets, line awards…..).
  • If you are a teacher that has the release first thing in the morning, take roll and have your students on your line ready for pick up.
  • If are a teacher that has release first thing in the morning, the AEP teachers will also drop the students back to your line on the blacktop.  Please meet them there.
  • If you are a teacher that will be released in the second half of the day, please have your kids ready on the blacktop for the AEP teachers to pick up
  • If you are a teacher that is being released in the afternoon, you are responsible to meet your class 5 minutes before the bell rings on the blacktop to release your own class.  This goes for all grade levels.

Once again, here are the dates for AEP this year.  All will be half-day releases.
***PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY WILL ALWAYS BE FRIDAYS***
