Crown Point Junior Music Academy
Monday Morning Memo
10/15-10/19

After our two reorganziations,  I have been very proud to observe high-quality instruction and the implementation of highly effective strategies.  I believe that the tier 1/data meetings that we have will bring more clarity to the effective strategies you have been trained on over time in your career.  As I have discussed with some teachers, it is not just one strategy but the culmination of effective practice you implement throughout your lessons that will have a large impact on student achievement.

Leisure Reading Room Assembly-
On Tuesday, will be having an opening ceremony for our Leisure Reading Room in the auditorium this Tuesday at 9:00 am.  Kimie Lochtefeld and Dr. Mike McQuary will be present for the opening ceremony.  Please select 2 student representatives (please ensure that they are cleared to have their picture taken) and send them to room 9 after the opening ceremony so they can have a photo shoot while they are reading for a few minutes.

Area Superintendent Visit-
Following the Leisure Reading Room opening ceremony, Kimie Lochtefeld will be staying to do some classroom visitations.  Please be sure to email me what you will be specifically be teaching that day between 9:30-11:00.  Also, please be prepared to discuss your possible focus students and the formative data you have gathered to inform your instruction for them.

Staff Meeting/Reading Plus (2nd-5th grade teachers)-
I have shared with some staff that we will be taking on a pilot computerized reading program that has several schools and principals seeing great results.  This Wednesday we will have a staff meeting starting from 1:00-1:30.  After our staff meeting from 1:30-2:30, 2nd-5th grade teachers will stay to have their first informational meeting/training about the Reading Plus Pilot.

Formative Assessment/Data Collection/Informing Instruction-
As a reminder, please continue collecting your formative assessments aligned to the Critical Concepts/Proficiency Scales, your data based on your students’ performance, and be prepared to discuss how your data impacted your instruction.  I understand your roster has changed significantly.  It is absolutely appropriate to share with me your data before the reorganization.
