Monday Morning Memo
11/12-11/15
Veteran's Day Holiday Monday, 11/11/19
As we go into a three day weekend, I wanted to say thank you for once again stepping outside of your comfort zone in either co-planning, co-teaching, or peer observations. These practices allow us to learn from each other and take our own practice to the next level. I am extremely proud to work with a staff at a school where their practice is not private, but an open learning environment for all.
As I visit PLCs and review minutes, it is critical that you are keeping in consideration your planning, data analysis, and professional learning based on our strategic focal points.
- Safe, Inclusive, Collaborative Culture
- Teacher Clarity
- Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum
As you are implementing the aspects of Teacher Clarity during your time of safe practice, please keep in mind that I will be coming in for observations with a focus of those aspects of Teacher Clarity that we learned in professional development. I am excited to discuss with you how you plan your lessons and strive to be at the ideal state of Teacher Clarity below.
IDEAL STATE OF TEACHER CLARITY
1. Students will be able to communicate (verbally, written,
demonstrate…) to you/others the learning intention
2. Students will be able to communicate to you/others what it takes to be successful in their work
3. Students will be able to connect the work to the learning intentions and success criteria
4. Students will be able to self-reflect and self-assess where who they performed in the task and what they learned and communicate to you and others
Field Trips-
Please make sure that you always let the office know if any student stays behind and the location of that student while you are away.
School Tours-
As a reminder at any point during the school week, we may be giving a school tour
PLC Wednesday, 11/7/19-
Please take some time to plan how to be at the ideal state of teacher clarity.
What this means is I want you to be prepared to talk with me and show me instructional opportunities for you as a teacher for Teacher Clarity. I will be asking how you verbally and visually teach to the learning intention and success criteria as well as shifting the work to the students and having them show and tell you what they are learning and how they are successful during collaborative practice.
