As the first week comes to a close, I wanted to thank you for being flexible and patient with not only the enrollment and placement of your students, but your music pull-out scheduling.  In the first couple of weeks, we will need to continue to be flexible and patient.

As we begin to plan for ELD, I think about some of our neediest students and our focused intentions to support them.  I know that the scheduling may be a challenge at times, but I also think about planning for your students look to you for that extra support.  I appreciate the work alongside your teammates to make the best student-centered decisions for all of your students.

Here are some clarifying items to remember.
  • If you are released for PLC first thing in the morning, you are responsible for taking roll. I recommend that you take roll in line to save time.
  • Cathy will create name tags for your class for each release for all your students.  We will try to create a name placard late. You will always be released to room 11.

Transitions
  • You will always have your students on the blacktop
  • Cathy will be creating an informative folder about your class.  She will give it to you before your first AEP release.  You are responsible to give it to the AEP teacher every time you release your students to them (It contains emergency information, rosters identifying students with disabilities, caught being good tickets, line awards…..).
  • If you are a teacher that has the release first thing in the morning, take roll and have your students on your line ready for pick up.
  • If are a teacher that has release first thing in the morning, the AEP teachers will also drop the students back to your line on the blacktop.  Please meet them there.
  • If you are a teacher that will be released in the second half of the day, please have your kids ready on the blacktop for the AEP teachers to pick up
  • If you are a teacher that is being released in the afternoon, you are responsible to meet your class 5 minutes before the bell rings on the blacktop to release your own class.  This goes for all grade levels.

Once again, here are the dates for AEP this year.  All will be half day releases.
***PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY WILL ALWAYS BE FRIDAYS***

Monday Morning Memo 8/19-8/23
WELCOME BACK!!!!!

Welcome Back!  I hope you have had a wonderful summer and spent some quality time with your loved ones.  This picture above reminds me of the wonderful summer memories recently for my family in Pheonix.  Whether you were in the heat of Arizona like us, or anywhere where you spent time with your family, I hope it was a great vacation.

We can't forget not only this summer but the recent school year as well.  2018-2019 was a great year you have done some great learning and teaching.  As a result, our preliminary results for SBAC are showing a 5% increase in both Math and ELA (possible 10% growth in 2 years!!!).  I will have more data to share with you during our prep day meetings.

I truly was appreciative of how receptive and vulnerable you were last year as you stepped out of your comfort zone and tried on some new instructional practices. The data shows the results of your great work!

As we get ready for Prep Week, we will have Wednesday for your day to plan/prep with your teammates.  Thursday, we will have our meeting at 8:00 most likely until lunch.  Friday will be to yourselves again.  I am waiting for the updated Annual Notifications for you to complete.  When I get the information, I will get it to you ASAP.

Annual Notifications-
You will have time to complete your Annual Notifications during your prep week.  The official due Date-Friday, October 4th

Math Coaching Cycle-
We will be continuing with the Student-Centered Coaching Cycle this year.  When looking at 3rd grade (coaching cycle participants last year), preliminary data shows that they increased 15% from the previous year!!!!  I will be planning with Sarah Mathy to determine our next steps with TK/1st and any other teacher that has not participated directly in the Math Coaching Cycle.

AEP-
We will be participating in the Arts and Education Program (AEP) this year.  This is the program where our students will be getting extra visual and performing arts instruction and you will be released for PLC (with no lesson plans!!!).
