Crown Point Junior Music Academy
Monday Morning Memo
3/4/19-3/8/19

As the beginning of the Math Coaching Cycle comes near the end, one of my favorite things to see is the growth of the students.  With diligent data collection and analysis informing instruction, we have seen students grow not only mathematically but with their language as well.  We have seen students' confidence increase while they tend to the precision of academic vocabulary and making meaning. You need to see the kids' excitement level as well during these lessons. Awesome job teachers!!!!!

It is impressive to see 2nd graders discuss with their partners unknown quantities from word problems in a variety of ways.

Thank you to teachers and parents making Dr. Seuss Week a tremendous success!!!

Data Collection has been critical to teachers in truly knowing their kids.  I appreciate the variety of ways I have seen teachers collect data to support all students.

We always try to support the school not only academically but culturally as well.  Thank you to Mrs. Toothman and her Peace Pals!

Instructional Focus-

I will be continuing to observe Tier1 instructional practices throughout the next couple of weeks.  I will also be collecting data on Guided Reading.  At this point, your daily/weekly schedule has been updated to ensure that I come in the appropriate time frame for guided reading.

Data Monitoring Meetings-
I will be releasing you on Tuesday, 3/12/19 and Wednesday, 3/13/19 to discuss various data points on your entire class and focus students.  I will get you more information to what specifically you will need to bring that.  I will say that you will need to bring a wide variety of formative assessment samples, student work, and overall scores.

More to come soon.

Youtube Concern-
Some students have been heard to talk about the "MoMo Challenge" with one another. This does not appear to be wide-spread, but the content is concerning. This is an online video that challenges people to commit suicide. Throughout these videos, there is concerning language and images shown. It is unclear what students may have seen or heard about this content and this could be on a first or 2nd hand basis. In any case, we want to be proactive about reminding students to use kind, encouraging talk, and to report talk that promotes fear, threats, or negativity. If you hear of any of the MoMo talk or other negativity, please assess if you can address at the class level, and if you need additional support, please let me and Tania Ramirez, our counselor know.
