Crown Point Junior Music Academy
Monday Morning Memo
2/12-2/15 (4 day week)
Thank you to all the people who helped support our Jog-a-thon to make it a tremendous success! We will find out soon which class will be allowed to throw water balloons at me!!
Instructional Focus
As always, I will refer to your weekly calendar and the Critical to guide my observations. This will always guide my observations.
As we learn more about our focus students, I will begin to observe the support you offer your at-risk students in various sub-groups. Please refer to the updated 17-18 Consolidated Data Spreadsheet (I sent it out Friday night) for your grade level. This will serve as a tool to guide your support to students in need.
School Tours
Every Tuesday Cathy and I will be hosting open house walk-throughs of your classrooms with potential parents of Crown Point. Please be aware that this is their first impression of our school and I look forward to showing off our amazing students and staff. Tours are from 1:15-1:45.
Superintendent Visit
Area Superintendent Kimie Lochtefeld will be visiting our school Wednesday, 2/21 from 7:30-11:00. I look forward to showcasing high-quality lessons based on the Critical Concepts with high levels of student engagement.
Cultural Performances
Starting February 22nd @ 2:10 pm in the auditorium, we will be having cultural performances for the entire community, parents, and students. We will start advertising on Monday. The first event will showcase Japanese Gen bu drums, South Korean Taekwondo, Filipino stick dance, and a Taiwanese dragon dance. It should be approximately 1 hour long. I hope that you can support us by being in the audience as these great cultures showcase their cultural talents. We hope to have 2-3 more before the end of the year including a culminating multicultural celebration school-wide.
In addition, we will be having a Kenyan cultural ambassador and Masai Warrior come to our school to promote a water fundraiser for his village as he shares his culture, music, and songs with us.
Valentines Attendance Challenge-
I am asking that you have your Valentines Challenge visible as a reminder to students the importance of being here every day and to support our cause to increase attendance. Thank you! I will be going into classrooms and ask students to show me their calendars.
Chillin w/the Principal-
After planning with the SGT, the idea of Chillin w/the Principal has been developed. The first date has been set. This coming Thursday, 2/15/18 @ 1:50 you will send 2 students with the highest amount of Caught Being Good Slips and 2 students who had their names drawn out of the jar of all your Caught Being Good Slips. This recognition will be like a VIP treatment for those students who consistently demonstrate character traits or meet the schoolwide expectations.
