Crown Point Junior Music Academy

Monday Morning Memo

4/29/19 – 5/3/19

As we move into the back end of Trimester III, I wanted to recognize all the hard work you have done this year in ensuring that your students have the best Tier I instruction possible.  Each of you have worked hard also in making sure that your students have high quality targeted instruction based on grade level alignment in your expectations for your students as well.

Looking ahead to our Wednesday PD (5/15/19), I appreciate you implementing your grade level learning targets based on the Math Practices.  As you collect work samples throughout these weeks,  I am hopeful that you take the time to reflect on how your students implement the Math Practices over the course of time.  The learning targets are applicable in all areas of math and if you are bringing them alive in your math lessons, your students will be thinking critically and the tasks that they produce for you will be much more dynamic than before.

Thank you once again for stepping outside your comfort zone and trying on these effective practices.

Instructional Focus-

I will be reviewing your schedules and selecting your Guided Reading times for observations and feedback.

I will also review schedules to set observation/feedback for your math time.  Please be prepared to discuss the learning targets your grade level has selected and how you have been implementing them into your math.

Crown Point Junior Music Academy
Monday Morning Memo
4/22/19 - 4/26/19

Thank you for working hard in reviewing student work in our Math Number Talks professional development this past Monday.  What we know to be effective is analyzing these tasks/formative assessments aligned to the learning target or teaching point to determine our next steps in teaching.  This will support increased student achievement in math overall.

What is also effective is the selection of your learning targets aligned to the mathematical practices.  The Math Practices can be integrated into any math lesson, and as students implement multiple math practices in their tasks/formative assessments you assign them, they will increase their proficiency in math across the board.

I always appreciate your hard work as we move into May.  Thank you for being present and in the moment as you learn strategies that support all of your students.

Instructional Focus-

Please ensure that your daily schedules are updated.   I will be going into classrooms based on your schedule you have shared with me.  I will continue to come to your classrooms with the lens of Tier 1 Instruction and Guided Reading.  I will also be conducting a data sweep of effective practices based on our professional development this year.

Once again, here is the link to the “Updated Tier 1 Look-Fors”.  Within these presentations you can review the effective practices I will be observing.
