Crown Point Junior Music Academy
Monday Morning Memo
Week of 2/25-3/1

I wanted to give a special thank you to 2nd and 3rd grade for working extremely hard, taking chances, and being vulnerable throughout the process of the Student-Centered Math Coaching Cycle.  This has been a truly eye-opening experience for me and for the teachers involved.  The teachers involved are truly wrapping their arms around this process and embracing the focus on the Math Practices and Number Talks.  I have observed this in action and I am truly impressed with the Teachers and Coaches working together. Nice Work!!!!!

The wife of Ben Carson, Candy Carson, had stopped by to see how our Think Big Reading Room was working out for us this past Thursday.  The students were fortunate enough to get a story read to them and she even played violin with Mr. Luchs's graders!

Instructional Focus-

I will be continuing to observe Tier1 instructional practices throughout the next couple of weeks.  I will also be collecting data on Guided Reading.  At this point, your daily/weekly schedule has been updated to ensure that I come in the appropriate time frame for guided reading.

Kindness is alive and well at Crown Point.  I wanted to say thank you to Mrs. Zittle for leading the charge making sure that all students take a moment to understand that kindness is something we sometimes take for granted and its always needed at our school.

Thank you to our math coaches for helping break down our math number talks and reminding us how important the math practices are in our instruction.

Monday Morning Memo
Week of 2/4/19-2/8/19

We are starting to shift into a focus on Math Tier 1 practices during this part of the year.  As we go through classrooms, I notice students and teachers have been working on being very clear with the strategies that are being taught and learned in the classrooms.  I appreciate the shifting from teaching strategies to teaching the strategies and students noticing and naming the strategies.  Keep up the great work!
