Crown Point Junior Music Academy
Monday Morning Memo
2/20-2/23 (4 day week)

We are at that point where we start shifting from running records to DRA testing.  Thank you for knowing your students and ensuring that you are giving them the appropriate instruction based on their needs.

Instructional Focus

As always, I will refer to your weekly calendar and the Critical to guide my observations.  This will always guide my observations.

As we learn more about our focus students, I will begin to observe the support you offer your at-risk students in various sub-groups.  Please refer to the updated 17-18 Consolidated Data Spreadsheet (I sent it out Friday night) for your grade level. This will serve as a tool to guide your support to students in need.

Data Wall-

On Tuesday morning, I will be going to classrooms to collect your focus student documents to post on our data wall in the PLC room. If you have not received them back from me by now, you can print them up in your classrooms.  Below are some items I have noticed and information for clarity.

  • PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE INPUT ALL THE INFORMATION.  THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY BLANKS DURING FOR THIS CURRENT TRIMESTER EXCEPT MATH BECAUSE WE HAVE NOT ESTABLISHED A SCHOOL-WIDE SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT. IF THERE ARE BLANKS ON THE DOCUMENT, WE CAN DISCUSS THEM AS I GO AROUND TO ALL CLASSROOMS.
  • I have given you the pictures to add to documents.
  • The current data should be for trimester 1 and the goals should be added to trimester 2. If the student is not an E.L., then you can either delete the CELDT part type in “N.A.”.  The same would go for any other applicable area.
  • I have sent all teachers the current data to help fill in the blanks last week.  Here is the link  for TK-3Here is the link for 4th-5th.

Superintendent Visit

Area Superintendent Kimie Lochtefeld will be visiting our school Wednesday, 2/21 from 7:30-11:00.  I look forward to showcasing high-quality lessons based on the Critical Concepts with high levels of student engagement.

Cultural Performances

Starting February 22nd @ 2:10 pm in the auditorium, we will be having cultural performances for the entire community, parents, and students.  We will start advertising on Monday.  The first event will showcase Japanese Gen bu drums, South Korean Taekwondo, Filipino stick dance, and a Taiwanese dragon dance.  It should be approximately 1 hour long.  I hope that you can support us by being in the audience as these great cultures showcase their cultural talents.  We hope to have 2-3 more before the end of the year including a culminating multicultural celebration school-wide.

In addition, we will be having a Kenyan cultural ambassador and Masai Warrior come to our school to promote a water fundraiser for his village as he shares his culture, music, and songs with us.

Valentines Attendance Challenge-

Tra-Viecia and I will tally up the classes with the highest amount of perfect attendance and will announce it very soon!!!

Chillin w/the Principal-

I think the students enjoyed “Chillin with the Principal” this past Thursday.  I appreciate you continuing to pass out the Caught Being Good slips.  Please continue to pass them out as well as the line awards when your students are quietly lined up.  Also, I am asking that you bring them out to every duty have and pass them out to other classes who line up well.  Remember, the bigger deal you make out of it will help motivate our students as well.

Thank you!!
